WEEK 13

TOPIC: The Power of Information.

TEXT: Hosea 4:6, Isaiah 5:13.

Life is not a product of chance, but a product of intelligent design. From the very beginning, everything was created by God with a clear purpose and definite laws to govern it. To maximize life therefore, you need to be driven by information. It is said to be informed is to be transformed, not to be informed is to be deformed. We are formed by the information at our disposal. The very word “information” means inward formation. That means things get into you to form your personality either positively or otherwise. There was the stone age, the industrial age and now we are in the information age in the 21st century. As a great man of God, Morris Cerrulo, said, “all truths are parallel… As it is spiritually, so it is physically most times..” The 21st century is driven by information largely both spiritually and physically.

3 Facts about People and Information

We can classify people into 3 major levels as far as their relationship and attitude to information is concerned. This helps you do a check on yourself and make the necessary adjustment.

  1. No Information: The first class of prople are those who have no information at all. Really, it is a matter of value; i.e. they have no value for information. These people don’t see the need for information in any way. Their whole life is lived on the wave of chance. Listen! When you don’t value information, you will never maximize life and destiny. The bible says “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge..”Hosea 4:6. No information syndrome is the quickest panacea for destruction in life. When Joshua was set to takeover leadership mantle in Israel, the first instruction God gave him was centred on his drive for information (Joshua 1:8). This class of people are very religious. They can be Christians in churches. There are churches that are in this class. They are the description of being heavenly conscious and earthly useless. Superstition is the vehicle in which they travel on the road of life. Churches in this class easily come under the influence of familiar spirits and a;; kinds of demonic moves because light is absent.

Note:  Until you place value on information, you will remain a victim of manipulation.

  • Wrong Information: This is the second class of people in relation to information. They are not really void of information generally speaking, but are full of information that has no relevance to their lives and destinies. Their information drive is not strategic, so their minds are loaded with baggages of irrelevant information. The man who knows nothing at all is better than the man who knows so much wrong things. That’s why it’s easier to teach people who haven’t learnt anything than to teach those who already have wrong knowledge. The ignorant man is not just he that has no information, but he that acquires information that has no relevance to his life. In Gal.3:1-3, Paul berated the church people in the city of Galatia for acquiring the wrong information as far the subject of grace is concerned. Infact, he called it bewitchment because wrong information can derail a man in life and end him up in a ditch. Wrong information leads to delusion eventually. One thing that promotes wrong information is when your quest for information is driven by sentiment rather than by objectivity.
  • Right/Accurate Information: This class of people are the right minded people. They are circumspect in their quest for information. They are open minded but not vulnerable. They are strategic in their information drive. They know somethings about every fact of life, but know so much about their own area of calling and career. You can’t read every book in this world, but there are books that concern your own life path. Nothing accelerates a man’s destiny manifestation like the right information. There are all manner of news, knowledge, information etc craving for your attention. You can’t afford to waste your time dwelling on things that have no direct relevance to your journey in life. When the bible says that in the multitude of knowledge, sorrow increases, it is implying the need for being circumspect in our quest for information (Eccl. 1:18). Information is not valuable until it is the right one per time. The key is this; what do you want to become in life? Let about 70% of your information drive be in that direction.

Word of Counsel

  1. Let your information drive be motivated by your desire to be your best for God’s will and be a blessing to humanity in your generation. This is how you will not become a tool in Satan’s hand because Satan himself seeks highly enlightened folks to use in perpetrating his agenda against the human race.
  2. Fight ignorance in your life. It makes you useless in the scheme of things. The ignorant man is easy to manipulate but difficult to lead, while the informed man is easy to lead but difficult to manipulate.

Points to Note

  1. Information is important to forming your personality.
  2. Lack of value for information leaves your life to chance.
  3. Wrong information will complicate your life.
  4. Right information means acquiring information that is relevant to your life.
  5. Serving God and man should be your motivation for seeking information.

Prayers/Declaration

In the Name of Jesus, I declare that my life is driven in the right direction of God’s plan for me. I open my mind to sound and accurate information that will move me in the path of glory in life. Thank you Lord.
