WEEK 3
TOPIC: Your Mindset
TEXT: Prov. 23:7, Rom. 12:2.
Man is an excellent creature of God. His makeup reveals the uniqueness of God’s dream for him on the earth. The Bible says we are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalms 139:14). That means you are a creature of perfection that is to manifest the divine excellence of God in the earth. Man is a spirit, he has a soul and lives in the physical body. In this lesson, we shall be focusing on the soul which is the seat of your mind, will and emotion. We are zeroing on the mind and how it affects our lives on the earth. No matter the greatness of your destiny on earth, your mindset is critical to what becomes of your life.
So many Christians, after they became born again, packed up their minds and began a religious journey in mediocrity until their Christian lives became a mockery among men. Salvation does not destroy your mind, rather it redeems it from the force of darkness so it can become an excellent tool for the divine life in our spirit to express itself in the earth. Therefore it is important we understand the place of our mind in our adventure in Christ.
What is a mindset?
Your mindset is the way you think, reason, view life. It means a conditioning of your thought pattern that determines how you respond to issues in life. Your mind is a tool that can be programmed in a certain way such that everything that enters is processed according to its programming. Your mindset is the root of your personality and disposition to life, simply put, you are the way you are largely because of the way your mind works.
Hear this truth: You don’t respond to life the way life is, you respond to life the way you are, and the way you are is based on how your mind works. Therefore working on your mind through the word and developing it in excellence is indispensable in your quest to maximizing your destiny.
Facts to ponder on
- Your mindset is what determines the outcome of your life inspite of what God has pre-ordained for you. E.g. you are destined by God to prosper, but your mindset can plunge you into poverty.
- Miracles are vital in our lessons, but they cannot give us permanent solution, only principles will do that, and your mindset is what helps you place value on principles or despise them.
- Miracles can give you solutions in the now, but it is mindset that will keep you in that arena of solutions permanently. For example, you can receive money in a large sum by miracle per time, but it is your mindset that will make you build wealth consistently.
- God does not raise his children by miracle, he does so by principles of his word and process, and when they submit to His principles (the mysteries and secrets behind His workings) and process to Moses (Psalms 103:7). That’s why they were receivers of miracles while Moses was a doer of miracles.
- Your mindset determines what you can believe for in Christ. Do you know there are Christians and even ministers that don’t believe HIV/AIDS can be healed by faith of the believer! The reason is their mindset has been programmed to conclude on certain cases without making allowance for a possibility of divine intervention.
- After the salvation of your spirit (being born again), the next important thing in your life is the renewing of your mind, else you may never fully maximize the reality of your salvation in this earth.
- Being stupid and being wise is a function of your mindset largely.
- Being wicked and being kind is a function of your mindset.
- The structure and outcomes of your life is largely programmed by the system of your thoughts.
- Wrong thinking will always complicate your life, no matter how good a person you are.
Points to note
- You are an excellent creature of God and your purpose is to display His excellence in the earth.
- Without a mindset of excellence, your Christianity will be a mockery among men because we live in a fast developing world.
- You don’t see life the way life is, you see life the way you are.
- Without a word based mindset, miracles will not help you permanently.
Prayer/Declaration
Father in Jesus’ Name, I declare that I have the mind of Christ. I walk in excellence as far as my mindset is concerned and my thinking and reasoning system is lining up with the word by the power of your Spirit.
