WEEK 20

TOPIC: Destiny (Part 2).

TEXT: Jer. 1:4-5, Rom. 8:29-30.

We have looked at natural destiny in the previous lesson. Now we shall look at divine destiny. This understanding will help us cooperate with God in our lives so we can go in the direction of His plane for us.

Divine destiny is what God has pre-ordained for us in Christ. This has nothing to do with any father other than God’s purpose for us in redemption. Our family background, ancestral lineage, social background etc has nothing to do with this. It is purely the prerogative of the spirit of grace and sealed by the blood of Jesus. It begins by divine election and always culminates in glory. You see, God has a plan for your life and that plan is in Christ. It is divine destiny that delivers a man from the hold of natural destiny. No matter how good your natural destiny seems to be to you, it is still ultimately under the control of the devil. Therefore get into your divine destiny so your life will go in the direction of God’s glory.

When does divine destiny begin?

Your divine destiny in Christ will remain dormant until you meet Jesus. In Matt. 11:28, Jesus said, “Come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden and I will give you rest”. Your natural destiny is a labour and heavy laden while your divine destiny in Christ is rest, and Jesus is the beginning of that journey. Simply put, your divine destiny begins at the time you are born again, your divine destiny cannot begin at all even though it is there waiting for you. Your glorious destiny awaits you in Christ, get into salvation so you can access it. When a man is born again, his biological ancestral background loses its legal right to determine the course of his life. Of course these forces are rebellious entities and they will keep putting up a fight against him. That’s why there is a life pattern and principles to be lived in Christ to maximize your divine destiny. That is another discuss entirely, but the point is get into salvation first and begin your glorious walk in Christ.

Facilitators of divine destiny

Your divine destiny in Christ begins at new birth, but is to be enhanced and actualized by certain factors. Unless you allow these factors full operation in your life, you may never maximize your divine destiny even though you have been ushered into it.

  1. The Holy Spirit (John 16:13): The Holy Spirit is the principal custodian of your divine destiny in Christ. He has the knowledge of everything about your destiny from the day you were born till when you meet Jesus. The Father has put your whole life path in His hand up to the minutest detail. If you ignore Him, you will become a cheap prey for the forces that control natural destiny. The Holy Spirit is the one in charge of God’s overall kingdom agenda in this last day, and He knows how to take you through your journey in life and land you safely. Learn to yield to Him so you can ride above the limitations of the natural life. The Holy Spirit was not sent to you just to help you perform in church, but to help you maximize your destiny in Christ.
  • The right church: Church is a vital factor God has ordained to help us fulfill our divine destiny in Christ. After you are born again, the next thing is to get into the right church. Not just any church but the right church. The Holy Spirit will guide you into the right church for you if you allow Him. There is so much to know about churching but that is not the discuss now. The main focus now is get into the right church. That’s where you start receiving accurate teaching of the word, the ministry of the spirit and other divine activities that will equip your spirit man to walk the path of your calling. You must believe in Church and stop nomadic Christianity i.e. moving from church to church without settling down. When Saul was converted and became a saint, he immediately got into church at Antioch where he was trained and prepared for his apostolic calling (Acts 13:1-3).
  • The ministry of Angels (Heb. 1:13-14): The ministry of angels is one vital factor that helps you fulfill your divine destiny. Angels are God’s specially created begins that carry out assignments in the kingdom. They are celestial begins and there are myriad of them. For one person there are thousands of demons, and for one demon, there are thousands of angels. Listen! As a Christian, the angels working for you far more outnumber the demons working against you. Angels help create circumstances in the physical realm for the manifestation of your destiny. When you are born again, there is a principal angel assigned to you in your calling who all other angels will work with. His first assignment was to get you into salvation and once that happens, he resumes as the angel of your destiny. If you are sensitive, you will notice how certain things work out for you under certain circumstances to help you fulfill your calling. These angels are behind them. We are not asked to go looking for them, but we are informed that they are with us. Through the word of God, we know how to take advantage of their ministry on our lives. Maybe we will do a detailed study of angels subsequently, but it is important you open up to the ministry of angels because it is a factor in your divine destiny in Christ.
